PokerStars is considered the best online poker operator of the industry. Its quality is confirmed by its huge user base – over 50 million players worldwide, except for the US, players of which are prohibited from gambling at this establishment. Oh well, at least they have Las Vegas…
PokerStars offers its players the greatest variety of online poker games and tournaments available for playing free – via PokerStars – or for real money – via PokerStars/eu and a series of regional sites. Speaking of regional – PokerStars is available for use for residents of virtually any country where online gambling is not illegal. It has offices in 20 countries and offers customer support in 29 languages.
PokerStars uses a proprietary software suite, offering its players several features unavailable at other online poker rooms. The software is one of the best in the industry – it’s fast, flexible and stable. Players can participate in up to 24 cash games at a time.
Thanks to its large player base, tough players are relatively easy to find at PokerStars. High limit tables are usually populated by some pretty tough players. Also because of the high number of players – over 20,000 ring players and over 150,000 tournament players at peak hours – and the steady influx of new players makes it easy to find the suitable table for all players of all skill levels. High stakes games and tournaments are usually populated by tough and aggressive players, though, so think twice before joining such a game.
As I said before, tournaments are available in an amazing variety at PokerStars, with buy-ins and prize pools of all levels. Players with all budgets and skills can find the right tournament for them – from 10 frequent player points or $0.10 to $500 or even $1,000. PokerStars also organizes satellites for the best known live poker tournaments of the world, including the World Series of Poker, the PokerStars European Poker Tour, the Asia Pacific Poker Tour, the Latin America Poker Tour and the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, and for the biggest online poker competitions, the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) and the Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP).
Speaking of frequent player points. PokerStars offers its loyal players two types of points, earned for real money games: FPP (Frequent Player Points) and VPP (VIP Player Points). VPPs are used for determining the players’ VIP level – Bronze to Supernova Elite – and they can be exchanged in cash prizes. FPPs are exchangeable into tournament tickets, collectibles and other merchandise, even a Porche Cayman S, that costs 3.1 million FPP.
FPP are awarded at a rate of 1-2 for each raked game and 5 for every $1 paid as tournament entry fees.
